TV Advert part 12 - Finished editing

So I finally finished editing my Advert here's what the Premiere Project looks like:

I reckon I managed to edit the footage so that the action is coherent and still interesting. Here's a shot of my timeline:

Because we filmed our ad on a cloudy day the footage appeared very dark and colourless, so I decided to tinker with the brightness and contrast controls to make the footage appear more colourful. By changing the saturation I was able to make the footage much more appealing to look at.

We tried to make our advert more stylised by just having the main characters in colour:

This was achieved by using the "leave colour" effect in premier which faded the background but left a certain colour brighter:

However this still left the background with partial colour which drew attention away from the main character so I decided to overly the footage with a black and white clip and crop it so that the background was in black and white whilst the character was not.

I think these effects look great and for what we had to hand I think we did a good job here. These all added to make the advert a little more stylised.

Tv Advert - Part 11

I've started importing my rushes into Adobe Premiere and then editing the footage into a sequence.

Here's what my Premiere Project looks like:

TV Ad - Converting Video Files

I've started getting footage off from the camera and Converting the files with AVS video converter. Some of the footage looks pretty good. It's just a shame about the weather. I guess now it's all done to the editing.

TV Advert - Filming the Advert (again)

Today we started filming our advert for the second time. The weather was bitterly cold and we may have rushed because of this. Wether we got good camera shots is yet to be seen...

TV Ad - Filming Advert

Ok so, we started filming our advert indoors because the weather was appalling, and we got some great footage. However our actor bailed on us ¬_¬' and to make matters worse the rest of my group still wants to film outside. So all the footage we got is now useless. So starting tommorow we will film for real.

Video Editing Workshop

Working on premiere and other such devices

Pre Roll

Today In the lesson I learnt a few new tricks that I can do in premiere. Such as exporting a frame from a video as an image. I can't begin to tell you how many times I used to slow the footage right down to get a freeze frame. The only problem with this is that the quality isnt that great, so maybe I need to keep using the slow down effect until I find a better way.

Television Advert Part 5 - Chosen Idea

We decided to use Veronikas Idea for our advert, and we have finished all our written work that will go towards our finished proposal. Now I'm kinda just waiting around for the finished script, because we can't start storyboarding or writing the shooting script without it.

TV Advert Part 4 - Initial Ideas

Yesterday, I made a practice film to see if my ideas would work or not. I showed the film to my group and they seemed to react well to the humour of the advert. So I got a few laughs and thats what I wanted to achieve with my Advert. So I think I was successful in communicating my ideas here.

TV Ad Part 3 - Group Work

Today we were put into groups and we have made a good start on our project. We have laid out a basic plan and worked on a group contingency plan. Luckily I was grouped with nice people who werent afraid to share their ideas and listen to my own. So overall I think this project is off to a great start.

TV Ad 2 - Thoughts on adverts.

Watching the previous years Television adverts left me feeling kinda uneasy. I thought they were well made but my biggest problem with them was that they seemed to follow the same formula and had very little narrative. I have an idea to use stop motion techniques with live action actors. I plan to take pictures of someone walking and animate them to make it appear as though they actually are walking. Why not actually film them walking you ask? Well I dunno, I just want to do something interesting here. There will be other quirky things like animating the actor so that they appear to be talking and then dubbing the actors with inappropriate voices. Why do I think this will work? Well I believe a good way to connect with the audience is to show them something that will make them laugh, and if I’m able to successfully convey my ideas so that the advert plays just how I see it in my head then I think I’ll succeed in that area. I obviously need to discuss my ideas with my group.

Televsion Advert Part 1

Our new project is to create a 30 second tv advert for one of these four products: Diet Coke, Kit Kat, Sure Deordriant or a new Phone.

I have come up with several ideas and have started work on my Treatment for one of these products. I think I'll probably go with Kit Kat because I have some funny ideas involving an edible product.

Skillz Profile part 2

As I have already made a skillz profile on my DVD menu blog, please take a look at that one as well as the one on this blog.

I feel confident in my video editing ability and have made several very short films.

Heres an example of what I was able to achieve using adobe Premiere:

When it comes to eiditng the video, there's only two programs that I use. Either Windows movie maker (lol) or Adobe Premiere. I like to blend the two programs together because I feel even though movie maker is primitive it still has some features that Adobe Premiere doesn't and when it comes to just editing clips I usually use movie maker because it doesnt make a huge project folder which can sometimes take up a lot of space.

I have only really worked by myself when making videos, so it will be interesting for me to see if I can communicate my ideas succesfully to the group I end up in.
Everything else I can do has already been mentioned in my other blog, so please check here for more information: http://i-mediawork.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
